My journey into the disability support sector began unexpectedly but changed my life in the most meaningful way. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked at the airport for nearly 10 years. Like many others, the pandemic brought a major shift in my career path. While searching for work, I came across a support job on Gumtree helping a person with muscular dystrophy. That one opportunity opened my eyes and heart to a whole new world. Supporting that client gave me a deep understanding of what it truly means to care for someone ,not just physically, but emotionally and with dignity. It didn’t take long for me to realise that this was the kind of work that gave me purpose. While working in support roles, I also studied community services, mental health, and related fields. After completing my qualifications, I knew I wanted to build something meaningful ,a service that put people first. But I was scared to take that step on my own. In the beginning, I partnered with a nurse, thinking I needed clinical experience beside me. But when that partnership didn’t work out, I realised something very powerful: you don’t need to be a nurse to change someone’s life ,you need heart, honesty, courage, and the confidence to serve others with care. That belief gave me the strength to start my own company, and that’s how Success Care was born.
